Physiotherapy | Is it for me?

Physiotherapists are highly qualified health professionals who work in collabration with patients to help your recovery process of your injuries.

Physiotherapists also work closely with GPs and other health clinicians to provide a holistic management careplan for your condition. Depending on your eligibility, you may be referred under the Medicare Enhanced Primary Careplan by your GP to see a physiotherapist.

Using advanced techniques and evidence-based care, physiotherapists assess, diagnose, treat and prevent a wide range of health conditions and neuro-musculoskeletal disorders. Physiotherapy helps reduce stiffness and pain, restore function, increase mobility and improve quality of life.

Physiotherapy services ranges from health promotion to injury prevention, acute care, rehabilitation, maintenance of functional mobility, chronic disease management, patient and carer education and occupational health.

Physiotherapy involves the assessment, treatment and management of a variety of muscle, soft tissue, neural and joint problems. It encompasses conditions as simple as a sprained ankle to complex problems such as chronic pain involving several body areas. It also involves the post-operative rehabilitation of many orthopaedic conditions such as ACL reconstruction or total knee / hip replacement.

Treatment options can include manual therapy techniques such as mobilisation and manipulation, massage, as well as individual specific exercise programs such as Clinical Pilates and Aquatic Physiotherapy, dry needling, therapeutic taping, posture and movement re-education.
